Securus Technologies Making Crime Prevention Easier

Chasing down wanted fugitives takes a certain degree of skill that is mixed with just a little luck from time to time. When I have exhausted all my areas of skill, hard work and persistence could put me in the right place at the right time, creating my luck in a sense. This is what we were facing with a home burglar who was going from home invasions to violent assaults on unsuspecting homeowners. It appeared that he was not pulling in the scores he needed, so each home he entered he became more violent to whoever was unlucky enough to be inside.

Even with several leads, we just were not having any luck catching up with this fugitive. The leads were usually a few days late, and when we showed up to find the suspect, he was gone. On a tip, I was told there was someone in the jail with a connection to the suspect that might break the case wide open. As I suspected, no one would talk to us in the jail. One thing that you have to understand about life in jail is that these inmates despise rats. If you are even suspected of talking to the authorities to help in a case to catch another criminal, you run the risk of now being a target in jail of abuse and violence for the rest of your time behind bars.

It was around this time that Securus Technologies installed the update inmate call system in the prison, and I wanted to learn more how it worked. I was quickly brought up to speed on the LBS software, and I wanted to see if I could get information on our suspect knowing the inmates were aware I was on the lines listening. Securus Technologies is a trusted name in this field, supplying thousands of prisons inmate call monitoring systems that help to prevent and solve crimes around the country. The CEO of Securus Technologies, Rick Smith says he and his thousand staff members are dedicated to making the world safer.

Hours after monitoring the calls, we picked up on a conversation about a local fence, someone who buys stolen goods at a discount and moves them. This person of interest was mentioned a few times because he was quick to pay and more of the criminals who had stolen goods were comfortable and trusting in him. This was a person of interest who was never on our radar before, so we knew it could be the lead that breaks the case wide open. We immediately put a tail on that fence and within days he met up with our suspect who was trying to unload his latest haul.
